In 2017 Alexander Gershunov and curator Tatiana Sizonenko teamed up to address the topic of climate change through art, as a novel means of communicating scientific concepts to the public in a creative way.
Together they produced an art exhibit entitled “Weather on Steroids: The Art of Climate Change Science”.
The exhibit was the result of teamwork between Scripps scientists and local artists who worked together to convey quantitative information visually and beautifully.
The original exhibit was held at the La Jolla Historical Society during May-September 2017. Art from the exhibit is currently on permanent display at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
